F.A.Q.
(Frequently Asked Questions)
Q.: I cannot send a message. The following error occurs:
'WinSock Error#11001:'Authoritative answer: Host not found'
A.: Keep in mind, to work with SMS Wizard you need the direct
access to TCP/IP ports set up on your service providers
hardware\software. For example, if you are sending short
messages to cellular phones serviced by ExtelGSM and BeeLine
(Kaliningrad) you will need the direct access to ports 4444
and 444 respectively.
Q.: The service provider that operates the phone I need
is not in the list! What do I do?
A.: Contact the network provider technical support service.
Ask the technical support officer for the SNPP address and
port number. In worst case you may come across the situation
that the network provider does not support this service.
If this is the case demand network provider to include this
service - THIS IS YOUR RIGHT! Or you may re-consider your
choice of cellular network provider: ask yourself, is there
a point of using services offered by an operator with pre-historic
technologies? In the region where we live there is only
one network provider that does not support this feature
- NWGSM. We would not rely on this company services!
Q.: Why BeeLine (Kaliningrad) does not support delivery
notification? They do have the QSTATUS command, do not they?
A.: In fact they do, but this command works weird with this
named provider. This command return a message of successful
delivery ALWAYS (even if delivery failed). So is there a
point using such notification? No, there is not! However,
should BeeLine (Kaliningrad) fix that we will gladly use
this feature ourselves.
Q.: We use Proxy-servers such as EServ (WinGate, MS
Proxy etc.) Can we possibly configure SMS Wizard to run
with these proxies and how do we do that?
A.: This is possible. However, the key to solving this problem
is totally dependent on proxy server configuration. We have
been successfully using SMS Wizard with MS Proxy and EServ.
If you have a solution for other proxies send it to us.
We will gladly include your method in this FAQ.
Q.: I have just got SNPP-server
settings for the provider that is not in your list. Can
I ask you to include this information to SMS Wizard database?
A.: Sure! And even better: after we have your new settings
confirmed as working you will be awarded with free registration
for SMS Wizard. Just send us your newly discovered settings
to us.
Type SMS Wizard in subject line.
